Step 1: Open your image in Illustrator In order to resize an image with Illustrator we must first open. ![]() In the past, whatever was on the artboard was what the artboard would resize to. Step 4: Resize the artboard to fit the cropped image. Just select the objects on a single artboard and choose Object > Artboards > Fit to Selected Art. If you want this canvas size to automatically open whenever you open Inkscape, check the box next to Set as default template.Ĭlick Save when you have included at least the template name. By Selecting a single object and choosing Fit to artwork bounds, you will fit to all artwork in your document. You can also include an author, description, and keywords if you’d like, but it’s not necessary. You can then enter a template name to find the template easily. When you have your blank canvas at the correct size, go to File > Save Template. It’s best to resize a new empty document to save it as a template. Any objects, text, or other elements on the canvas will be saved in the template. Step 1 : Click on the Artboard tool in the toolbar. Once you have resized your document, you can save the size as a template, but you must ensure the canvas is empty. When you click on the Artboard tool, you can change the artboard size from the Artboard panel under Properties. If you have a standard size you often use in Inkscape, and it isn’t in the format options, you can save your new canvas size as a template and even make it your default template if you’d like. From the Preset dropdown list choose Fit to Selected Art. This opens up the Artboard Options Panel. Choose an artboard preset from the Properties panel to the right of the document to resize the new artboard. How to Set a New Page Size as the Default in Inkscape Start by selecting the objects on the artboard and then click the Artboard tool in the Tools panel twice. You can see my example fits the frame I made at 1280 x 720 pixels with the logo fitting inside. You can select all the objects by pressing Control + A on Windows or Command + A on Mac, activate the Select and transform objects tool by pressing S, and then click and drag to reposition your content onto the new canvas size.
