![]() Gainax will always be remembered for producing some fantastic anime in its day, and fortunately for fans, many of these series are still readily available to watch. Anyone who hasn't watched Evangelion but loves anime should stop what they're doing right this second and get to watching it, provided they're in the right headspace for some abject despair.Īlthough Gainax may be gone, the works that they created have earned plenty of respect among the anime community and the industry itself, and many former Gainax employees went on to found today's biggest studios, such as Trigger. But in Abenobashi, nothing is what it seems Suddenly, they find themselves in a world like their onn.only not. The new age of Meiji has come, but peace has not yet been achieved. The revolutionaries wanted to create a time of peace, and a thriving country free from oppression. Evangelion's dark and apocalyptic atmosphere fills much of the series with dread, especially as it progresses deeper into the plot. Whoa Hold on to your hats and get ready for one wildly wacky, frenetically fun ride Arumi Asahina and Sasshi Imamiya seem to be normal, 12-year old kids living in Osaka. Ten years have passed since the end of Bakumatsu, an era of war that saw the uprising of citizens against the Tokugawa shogunate. Unfortunately for Shinji Ikari, he's one of those pilots, even though he'd really rather do anything else. The series focuses on an invasion by mysterious beings known as Angels, which must be fended off by giant "robots" known as EVAs, and these EVAs need very particular pilots in order to operate. ![]() No surprises here: Neon Genesis Evangelion is regarded by many as one of the greatest anime of all time, so of course it was Gainax's best work. ![]()
